It's been a while

It is 7:18 PM Friday Evening. Long day, mostly long from grading Nietzsche Papers, was brain fried around 5:00, stopped to do a restorative sequence, which really took me a while to sink into, but by the end of savasana I did feel truly restored.

A lot has been going on, that coupled with a minor computer mishap (broke the LCD panel on the computer up in New York) and with the end of semester millions of things to do, I haven't had much time where I felt like sitting down and blogging.

Let's see, since last I wrote, I went to New York. Jeff came with me and that was a lot of fun. It was great to go to the Institute as always. I attended Carrie Owerko's Level IV class on Thursday, Brook Meyer's Level III on Friday, the sutra study group Friday and Carrie's Level II class on Sunday. Since Jeff is an Anusara yogi, we also went to check out Vira Yoga. We went to three classes there and it was very interesting seeing John's method with different teachers. Mostly, my engagement with Anusara is via Christina and I think because I know her so well, I don't really see the method of Anusara as clearly as when another teacher presents it. More on that on the teaching blog.

Aside from Yoga, James and I talked about Plato's Agent some. Had great Burmese food with him one night. Saw my student Natalie and it was great to touch base with her. She treated us to brunch at my now favorite restaurant Lure. The have the best macaroni and cheese in the world. Also ate a good bit of pizza and procured the most excellent chocolate truffles at La Maison du Chocolat. Yummy.

This past week in Waco I've been busy with teaching, meetings, and grading. I am definitely ready for the semester to be over.

The past couple days in Austin highlights include: taking CT's classes, getting a manicure and pedicure, lunch at Boudin Creek Coffeehouse with Devon and hanging out with Jeff.

Very Late Monday Night

It is really funny. This blog is about my life in Austin, but really I mostly seem to write about my life in Austin when I'm back in Waco.

Here are some highlights of the past five days in Austin.

Got my fourth Rolfing session. Am really enjoying the process. I had the impression Rolfing would be very painful, but it really isn't. I do feel aspects of my structure shifting internally, but there is definitely some core resistance to the reshifting also. Guess that is just the case in any new situation.

Enjoying listening to Pandora. it is great. you get to create your own Radio Stations. If you haven't checked it out, do so. Pandora.com.

Thursday night went out with Pam, Ari, Jeremiah, Jason, Jesse, and Jeff. Wow. That is a lot of people with J starting their first name. Went to Taco Xpress which was quite yummy and fun and funky.

Friday. I taught my last class at Clear Spring, at least for a while. I'm just scaling back some of what I do.

Friday also, real highlight. One of my best friends from high school, Laura, came to visit with her husband and three boys, Sam, Alex, and Daniel. We had a great time. it was really quite handy having the mini van. Just what you need when a family of five visits... We went to Whole Foods and Book People and then went to Mars for dinner that night. Really enjoyed Mars.

Saturday- Some Baylor Students came down for a cultural enrichment day. We went to the Austin Museum of Art and Aster's Ethiopian. More on that on the teaching blog.

After that it was pretty much all immersion all of the time.

I'm a bit sore. Got more firmly into several arm balances.

In all, it is just great living in Austin.
